The Hills Have Eyes 2 is a 2006 American-Canadian horror film and the sequel to Alexandre Aja's "The Hills Have Eyes" (2006). It was produced by the Blumhouse Productions and DreamWorks Pictures, and released in theaters on June 22 of that year. Roman crawls outside to seek help from a nearby town, but finds the same fate as the others. Roman finds a radio and finds out that the government has been ordered to conduct a nuclear test in the area where his family was at. After Roman finds a piece of paper with a map on it, he makes his way through a military base and finds a group of survivors who have been there for years during nuclear testing. Roman learns from them that if he keeps heading west he will eventually find his family, but they have been inhabited by mutants as well. Roman leaves the base after learning of the radiation levels of the area. Roman finally reaches his family however he is killed by an alien. After that, Roman's stepdaughter Kaylee Carter leaves New Mexico with her boyfriend Mike, who was also a Marine, and their two children and starts to travel west in search for her family. Kaylee and Mike interpret their experiences to be a nightmare and don't realize that they are actually having hallucinations as a result of stress. After crossing into Arizona Kaylee and Mike stop at a convenience store for gas, where both families meet up again. After meeting up with Roman, the group then travel west together. The film was released on June 22, 2006 in the United States, opening at #4 at the box office. It grossed $8.8 million on its opening weekend, coming in at fifth place overall. The film spent two weeks at number two on its second weekend out, but dropped to sixth place after seeing a 59% drop-off over the first weekend of release.
